Award winning writer Jack Canfora

Vienna in 1787. A somewhat large yet still cramped apartment in. The room is slovenly, with sheets of manuscript tossed about carelessly, as well as half-eaten chicken legs, sweets, and more than a few bottles of wine and ale.

A historical story about love, passion, pain and genius. The latter two, too often too close.
Zooming in onto the last years of a legend, and his closest relationships.

Mozart is pale, thin, and petite. Rather fragile looking, in fact. Above all, he is bored. As he distractedly rolls the cue ball back and forth, he quietly hums a phrase to himself. It catches him off guard. He repeats the phrase. He smiles, and suddenly, through the scrim he sees and hears an
orchestrated version of “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” play quite loudly throughout the apartment. We are hearing the inside of his head. He is as surprised as anyone to be hearing this. He pays close attention to it. He reacts physically to the music, seemingly willing it along. He is entranced; he is content; he is whole.

In a world increasingly embracing AI, we invite you to witness a play that explores the delicate dance between human connection and artificial companionship, “The Visit”. Mark loves Poly. Poly loves Mark. And his friend. A common love dilemma. But what happens when you are multiply-able? As we journey with our protagonists, we see the heart-wrenching disintegration of traditional human relationships, replaced by their growing dependency on these perfect, programmable beings. With exquisite complexity, our story questions the very essence of love, emotions, and the meaning of true human connection. Experience a spectrum of emotions as we explore the depths of human vulnerability and the heights of artificial intelligence in this groundbreaking play. Let us delve into the stark reality that lies between the disintegration of human relationships and the rise of an AI-centric world, where heartstrings are entwined with code and love becomes a programmable concept. Will we retain our humanity or succumb to the Visit?

New York. The 1960’s. Through a picture window as wide as the wall, we see the Hudson River.
Between the river bank & the commercial bank: a no man’s land of industrial wasteland. Workers are
seen walking along abandoned railroad tracks- eight, parallel rail lines.

“And it came to pass, as they journeyed, that they found a plain; and they dwelt there. And they said
one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn it in the fire. And they had brick for stone, and lime had they for mortar. And they said, Go to, let us build us a City and a Tower, whose top may reach unto heaven;

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower…
And the LORD said, Behold, this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them,
which they have imagined. Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand… So the LORD scattered them…
And they left of building the Tower. Therefore is the name of it called Babel”
